The Green Party of Maricopa County (GPMC) and the Arizona Green Party (AZGP) are currently recruiting registered Green Party members to be candidates for the 2010 elections. So far, we have 12 "declared" candidates statewide. We would like to exponentially increase that number, to help fill out our Green Party "ticket" for November 2010.

To assist with this effort, GPMC will begin to host a weekly "Candidate Recruitment & Training" session. Our first "official" training session will be on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at Hob Nob's (formerly the Willow House), 149 W. McDowell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85003. Hob Nob's has a nice lunch/dinner menu that is reasonably priced. Look for the AZGP sign (we will be in one of the study rooms)!

We need folks that are willing to be Green Party candidates, campaign managers and volunteers, campaign treasurers, etc. We are especially looking for folks that can assist us collect signatures on the nominating petitions for our candidates. Our candidates need to file their nomination petitions no later than Wednesday, May 26, 2010. For our statewide candidates, they need to collect the signatures of at least 1,231 registered Greens or independents. We need volunteers that can assist us immediately with phone banking, outreach and the collection of nomination petition signatures.

We are especially interested in recruiting more women and people-of-color to be our Green Party candidates. We are also recruiting registered Green Party members from counties other than Maricopa or Pima to be our candidates. Potential candidates should support our Green Party Ten Key Values and our Green Party platform (http://www.gp.org/platform).

Now that AZGP has ballot status for 2010, what are YOU going to do with it? Our ballot status petition volunteers spent 15 months collecting the necessary signatures. Don't let our hard work go to waste! Volunteer to be one of our Green Party candidates! We are recruiting candidates for U.S. Congress (CD 1, 5, 6, 7 & 8), statewide offices (Secretary of State, etc) and Arizona State Legislature (90 seats available). Don't let the carpetbaggers or infiltrators hijack our ballot line! Do you want a Green Party candidate for Governor? If so, our statewide candidates (including U.S. Senator) need 1231 signatures. We have 30 days left to "make it happen"!
